Wandering is a journey without any definitive purpose. It is following your heart. And even if you feel lost and uncertain along the way, it is a necessary step to truly finding yourself, as your heart always leads your soul.
I find myself wandering everyday: I wander with my favorite horse, Luke, around the woods just for a small adventure. I wander the streets of Ithaca to see what is new and happening. I catch myself wandering to my dreams as I sit in front of my computer at work.
To wander is to live. And this travel bug can’t be satisfied with anything less.
Ithaca has been fantastic. To summarize my last few years after my last adventure: I came home. I got a job. People came. Things happened. I continued to love. I learned. People went. I played in the woods. I taught. Ideas were shared over wine. I played music. Winter lingered. I laughed out loud…multiple times. Horses never ceased to amaze me. And here I am.
…but it was never enough. I had a constant itch to go somewhere. To do something big. To explore the world.
Around February of this year, when cabin fever was at its peak and I was freezing my soul away, a spark went off in my head that I need to leave and go to New Zealand. There was just something about the place that was calling me. Just something about it…
Something about the glorious mountain scapes…
Or the pure wildness of it…
Or the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, my favorite of wines (try 90+ if you ever get a chance)…
Lord of the Rings may or may not have inspired me…
New Zealand was calling me and I had to go.
Have a wonderful wander! Oh, and need I add, don’t forget to write. We will look forward to hearing about your beautifully written reflections and seeing your experience in your wonderful photos.
Love, Aunt Nancy
